Al Franken Campaign Wanted To Violate The Secrecy Of The Ballot Box

The Franken campaign is demanding the names of absentee voters based on one Beltrami county woman’s claim that her absentee ballot was wrongfully rejected, and some counties in Minnesota have complied, but after collecting some of those ballots the Franken campaign backed away from their challenge.
Here’s the initial report from the Grand Forks Herald:

An 84-year-old Beltrami County woman, whose election ballot was rejected, helped convince Al Franken’s campaign to go to court seeking the names of all Minnesotans whose ballots were not counted last week.
Franken campaign officials said the woman, a nursing home resident, told a campaign volunteer that her signature had changed due to a stroke after she first signed her voter registration forms. Her signature on absentee ballot paperwork did not match her signature for this election, so election officials rejected the ballot.
That example is being used as why the U.S. Senate candidate, a Democrat, wants to know about every rejected ballot.
Beltrami County handed over a list of voters with rejected ballots, one of about a dozen to comply with the campaign’s request. But many counties are refusing, so Franken today filed a lawsuit seeking Ramsey County to comply. If a judge orders Ramsey County, home of St. Paul, to turn over the list, the Franken campaign expects all other counties to follow.

A follow-up from the AP notes that Franken is backing away from this woman’s claims:

Franken’s lead attorney, Marc Elias, said the Franken campaign has already investigated the case of an 84-year-old woman in a Beltrami County nursing home. Elias said her ballot was rejected because of inconsistencies in the signatures, but the woman told the campaign that the difference could stem from a recent stroke.
Later Thursday, the campaign backed away from the example, saying the woman’s ballot had been rejected for a reason unrelated to her own signature.

What I want to know is: Why in the world was the Franken campaign given the names of absentee voters? Aren’t our votes supposed to be secret in order to keep voters safe from potential thuggery from over zealous campaigns such as Al Franken’s?
Whither the sanctity of the ballot box?

Lioncourt: Correction, Franken is asking for a list of voters with “rejected” ballots. The next step is to get your hands on the rejected ballots, which perhaps would accompany the envelope they were mailed (absentee) in with and then Franken could know how those people voted.

I am really disappointed in the MN DFL who nominated Franken in the 1st place. Here is Franken on Anti-Christian Bigotry.
    As Franken tells it:
“Do you know what God’s punishment is for liars?” [the minister] asked me … “God’s punishment for liars is that they believe their own lies.”
I thought it would be a great ending for this book …
So I asked God where exactly in the Bible he said that. God told me that the Methodist minister had had his head up his ass. It doesn’t say that in the Bible. The Bible does say, “… and in every wicked deceit for those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth so that they may be saved. Therefore, God is sending them a deceiving power so that they may believe this lie.”
    Franken later says,
“I guess it was God who had his head up his ass.”
Nice, eh? And the Democratic Party wonders why most reverent Christians have roundly rejected their platform in recent years. With a prominent Democratic voice like Franken spewing sacrilegious lines like this, it’s no wonder.
Franken is a proponent of forced abortions
We need a leader in our Senate who can lead and not follow. One who can be original in his thinking and not be persuaded by partisan rhetoric and popularity polls. Minnesota has unique issues, unique to only Minnesota. We need a leader who can go and communicate to the other legislators in Washington what is good for Minnesota is good for the rest of the nation. He needs to be able to review all legislation being acted on is in the best interest of Minnesota. Can Al Franken do this? No way, Al Franken is running for the senate as a joke to start with and found out he had a chance of winning and then he has gotten serious. Al Franken has one thing on his agenda and this is to improve his portfolio and do what will only be good for Al Franken. We do not need a leader who lies about others to make himself look less like a snake. He has no conscience and no sense for knowing what is right from wrong. Do we truly want a man with a past record of being dishonest representing us in Washington? Or are we in Minnesota lacking comedy so much we are willing to employ this clown as our Senator for Minnesota?

Don’t worry, Rob! We can always rely on the non-partisan Secretaries of State to preserve democracy for us!

    Bob,

If you must have a pic of Obama on your post, can you please at least put one up that doesn’t look like he is a extra from “Rhinestone Cowboy?”

Instead of asking inane questions, why not look up the election law. He is not asking for who these people voted for, but a list of who voted.

Franken is the democratic future. Do everything and anything, legal or illegal to get the results they want. Ignore the voters. Use the courts, protest on the streets, use violence, scream yell and whine. Nor regards to the law, the rules or authority. All you have to do is listen to the dems speak. they are unintelligent, rude, and hostile. Franken is an absolute embarrassment. But then again, so is the liberal democrat socialist.

You are still thinking in a pre Obama Nation… You better get over that in a hurry and accept that they are looking out for you.

Remember he said in his Chicago speech, ‘Even if you didn’t vote for me, I am still your President’.

If you keep thinking that way, you will invite the wrath of the Nation Security Forces.

  • Politically Incorrect

With Democrat Party personnel, it appears they believe the end justifies the means. It will take some time, but they will eventually get caught with this mindset. The judges are on their side. The MSM is on their side. Eventually, truth will prevail, and they will get a slap on the wrist, but we the people will be watching.

Did they inform the Franken campagn of the actual vote or just the name on the envelope?

Don’t you have to publicly sign in before you vote?
Is that not similar to a name on an envelope?

Whether a person votes or doesn’t vote is public record, no?
