Air America Update: Looks Like They’re Not Making Payroll

More bad news for liberal radio network Air America:

Just how bad are workplace conditions for Air America staffers?
Perhaps far worse than we’d previously thought.
It’s bad enough the company is generating fresh bad publicity almost daily, over the diverted $875,000 in taxpayer funds intended for a Bronx-based community service organization.
Now, to make matters worse, an internal memo obtained by the Radio Equalizer indicates Air America Radio employees faced late paychecks just over a week ago.
They were apparently stunned to receive a last-minute notice sent at 5:09pm Thursday, July 28th, indicating direct deposits would not be made Friday, as expected.

Honestly, I’m not surprised. Air America has been scratching by on donations (and misappropriated public funds, apparently) for too long now. Whatever the Air Americans want this radio network to be there is one thing it has to be: profitable. In order to be profitable they’re going to have to get some listeners, something they seem to be very much lacking at this point.
Radio, at the end of the day, is a business. Nobody does this stuff for free.

This is so unfair. They have a first amendment right to be heard. The government should pay to keep them on the air. I know… we can tax the successful radio shows a percentage of their profit, then use that money to keep Air America on. Those fat cats like Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, Bennett won’t miss the money. They make card houses with stacks of $100′s in their spare time. After all, these guys make their cash off of the back of the working man, they don’t really do anything to earn that money… They just fell into those positions because their parents were all UBER-RICH elitist Neo-NAZI scum bag conservatives. You know that they all have Billions tied up in the foreign oil markets, right? If we loose in Iraq, they loose a FORTUNE! Tax them now and keep Air America preaching the truth!!! Carl Rove engineered this whole situation to force the truth tellers off the air. We must shave our chest hair and march on the capital!!! We must let them know WE ARE NOT INSANE!!!!

When this netword debuted, I heard a number of commentators saying they’d “give them one year” before the went belly up. I thought it was a bit absurd since I figured there had to be enough to at least keep the network afloat in certain markets, though not necessarily profitable.

Now, though, I’m thinking they might not see their two year anniversary… We’ll see…

These Air Idiots are just begging for a visit from the IRS. Back in December they announced they had received a $19 million infusion of invester funds, then said they scored another $13 million in March. And now they’re coming up short on their payroll?

Just how many donuts does Franken eat in the course of a week? Are we talking Oliver Willis levels?
