Ahmadeinejad On 60 Minutes

Tonight the interview between Mike Wallace and Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad aired tonight on 60 Minutes. Hot Air has video excerpts. I had posted previously about this interview here.

Pretty much I agree with the assessment from this press release put out by The American Jewish Committee:

"It is a shame that the venerable Mike Wallace was so determined to secure this interview that he failed to recognize that he and CBS would inevitably be used skillfully by the Iranian leader," said AJC Executive Director David Harris. "Known as a tough interviewer, Wallace this time around proved inexplicably passive, perhaps hypnotized by his own unexpected fascination with the Iranian leader. As a result, he failed, among other things, to press President Ahmedinejad on his long trail of damning quotes on Jews and Israel, as well as to challenge the Iranian leader on his support of Hezbollah and other terrorist organizations, and his ambitious program to develop a nuclear weapon."

Just another instance of a journalist allowing himself to be manipulated as a useful idiot for extremist Muslims.

Do you think that the US and Israeli intention and goal by attacking Lebanon is pulling the trigger for another word war?

I’m not going to beat up on Mike Wallace. I’ve seen enough episodes of 60 minutes to see he wasn’t out of character. Outside of the subject, this was just another CBS interview.

But the way Ahmadinejad responded to the questions made me uncomfortable. His mannerisms and sly manipulation of the questions exposed, to me anyway, that this guy is going to be a problem for a long, long time.

Simply based on the naiveté that exists in the world, I can see how this guy’s cunning charisma could be used to lead Muslims against the free world. He certainly made use of left wing talking points with little difficulty. If democrats can’t figure out that they have become “useful idiots” by rogues like Ahmadinejad after this interview, then they never will.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see Nancy Pelosi use sound bites from this interview for campaign commercials for the DNC.
