A while back Fargo-based Forum Communications required everyone registered on their website update and confirm their email addresses. This was supposedly about their new commenting policies on their websites, where they weren’t allowing anonymous comments any more, but shortly afterward users began getting spammed.

Which isn’t a huge deal – capitalism and all that – but it would be nice if they’d just told us they were going to spam us instead of making up some nonsense about verifying commenters.

Regardless, I have to laugh this morning when the email below showed up in my inbox from the Duluth News-Tribune (a Forum Communications property) advertising water front property. In Duluth. Which just saw catastrophic flooding.

Well done, Forum Communications, well done.
