ABC News Viewers Send A Message: Media Is Biased

Hmm...

March 23, 2006 — Over the last 24 hours, ABC News has been reading hundreds of messages sent in by viewers in response to President Bush's claim that the media are undermining support for war in Iraq.

Viewer opinions ran the gamut, but the vast majority believed the media were biased in their Iraq coverage.

Of course, the big question is this: Will the media listen to the complaints of its viewers or continue to ignore them?

The media seems so disconnected from their viewers. After the 2004 election the puzzlement among media-types over Bush's victory was palpable. You could almost hear them asking why Americans re-elected a guy that "everybody" hates.

I honestly believe that if the President were to run for a third term based on the economy's performance thanks to his tax cuts and our accomplishments in Iraq that the American people would elect him again and, again, leave the media and leftists scratching their heads.

...given that he were to run against Kerry or Gore? Yes.

President Bush’s best asset for re-election is that the Democrats’ candidate well ran dry after (Bill) Clinton.

Don’t think that Hillary Clinton could win against him, either. Why do you think she didn’t run in 2004?

Just watched Condi spin her ass off on Tim Russert, just like her boss.

Is it spin, MI, or just truth that you don’t want to hear because it means all your preconceptions about Iraq are wrong?

That lady must have some psychological problem that prevents her giving a straight answer.

Blitzer asked: Did Iraq have anything to do with 9/11?

That’s a Yes or No answer. It took her a couple of minutes to meander around it. I think she said "no", but you never can tell with her  history of prevarication (remember the "aluminium tubes", Condi?)

Condi is in a tough spot.  She has learned from Powell though.  As Secretary of State, or any position held in the White House, you are there to serve at the pleasure of the President.  I think she is trying very hard to keep the party line, but not let her own personal beliefs take over.

Now that is a whole different conversation we could have.

There is no media bias, according to, I believe, Jane Hall.  It’s just that Fox News has successfully promoted the idea.

Yeah, right.

Dave, are you suggesting that Condi isn’t really behind the mission in Iraq?  Because if you are you’re dead wrong.

No, I’m suggesting that she is being cautious about coming right out and disagreeing with her boss.  Colin Powell disagreed and of course exited stage left (not to say that only lefties disagree with the war, don’t read into that).

I like Rice for the fact that she isn’t too thrilled with the current foriegn policy that is in place.  That is why I like her for president.  Bush got into office with no foreign policy experience and I think it absolutely shows.  Former Secretary’s of State tend to make very well rounded Presidents too.

I’m not sure where you’re getting "she isn’t too thrilled with current foreign policy."  Rice was one of the chief designers of our middle-eastern policy.

You know what is awesome about this comment?  If Condi had fallen flat on her face, if she’d been unconvincing, MI probably wouldn’t be so ticked off about it.  That he is ticked tells me she did an awesome job and was right on target.

I am going on the couple of occasions where she’s been asked about the situation in Iraq and she seemed to delay with her answers.  Either i’m reading too much into that or, she has issues.

And yes, I am aware of her involvement in the mid-east policy, but again, she is working at the pleasure of the President.

Well, I think you’re reading too much into it.  But, granted, neither of us knows for sure.

And yes, I am aware of her involvement in the mid-east policy, but again, she is working at the pleasure of the President.

Right, but she is a foreign policy expert working at the pleasure of a President who, you said yourself, doesn’t have a lot of foreign policy experience.  Has Bush probably gone away from some of her suggestions?  Probably, but I think it would be fair to say that the President and Condi aren’t too far apart on many foreign policy issues.

Maybe she thinks about her answers?

Maybe unlike klintoon she didn’t give them the questions they were to ask her.

Commenting… I wasn’t saying that out of pure partisanship, as is your response.  That was a simple observation.  Like I sad earlier, I’m a Condi fan.  If we could vote for President today, she’s got my vote.  And Hillary is a… well, I will refrain from what I would like to call her.

I found this to be a very interesting article in today’s Wash. Post. : http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/24/AR2006032401717.html.  Also, the discussion on Meet the Press on the media bias (?) was also very interesting. Over 80 reporters have been killed in Iraq since the invasion started.  If you can’t move around the country freely without fear, then how are you going to report on the good things?

I think Condi can’t tell all she knows about the Saddam/terrorism connections until the documents come out.  She is being sensible, not spinning.  She knows the MSM is heavily leftie-biased.  Has Russert ever harrassed a Dem like he has done to her?  Remember his behavior toward her when he asked her again and again about running for President?  The man is a leftie jerk.

P: Now that I think about it, Russert seemed to be more even-handed in the past.  With this administration, he has become more of an attack dog for the Dems.  Whatever he might have done in the past, he has harrassed Condi twice now, and he is a partisan jerk.

As you kidding me? When Cheney is on, Russert does everything short of giving the VP a blowjob under the desk! Time and time again Cheney has looked right into Russert’s camera and lied his ass off. Russert either lets him get away with it of offers the meekest possible follow-up before rolling over.

Attack dog my ass---NBC (owned by major defence contractor GE) is more like a lapdog.

Don: I have given up hope of ever getting anything but an extreme partisan statement from you.  NBC is just another arm of the lying leftie MSM, no matter who owns them.  You should know that, but you don’t, because you don’t want to look at the truth.
