A Politically Incorrect Glacier

Doesn’t the Perito Moreno Glacier, which was portrayed as melting in Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth, know that we’re in a climate change crisis?

I’ll bet that glacier is funded by Exxon and voted for Bush too!

Comments

It was 27 Degrees BELOW ZERO here in Fargo today!
Yet, pointy heads like UND’s Dexter Perkins will say to your face, it’s a result of “global warming!”

I’ve read that glacial recession is more a function of precipitation than temperature.  The less snowfall, the less ice.

Liberals told us to be fearful of these glacial changes. Now they’re reversing on some glaciers.

Liberals also spend time accusing the other side of being “fear mongers” of “boogeyman” threats.

Maybe these liberals are just describing what they see in their mirrors.

Rob, are you claiming that the past couple decades have NOT been unusually warm globally?  If that’s what you’re claiming, you’re wrong.  And if you’re not making that claim, then this post is pointless.

Who cares whether this single glacier is growing?  Many other glaciers are shrinking.  This glacier happens to be in the southern hemisphere, where there’s much less land mass and where the oceans dramatically moderate and delay the effects of global warming.

The interesting thing about Jimmy’s point is that somehow, the global warming folk get to have it thier way no matter what the facts are. If it’s cold, It’s GW; if it’s hot, it’s GW; if there is record snowfall, it’s GW; if there is no snow it’s GW; Hurricane? GW; no Hurricane? GW; if a glacier is growing...it’s because of the smaller land mass of South America; if a Glacier is receding...it’s, you guessed it… GW.

The fact that there has been a little warming in the past few years indicates nothing. Indeed, there has been general warming over the past 15,000 years when massive glaciers covered all of North Dakota and slowly receded withough the help of a single car emission. There is no such thing as ideal weather. The absolute scientific fact is that the Earth is in a state of constant change.  Get use to it.
