A Note On Comment Notifications

Due to the high volume of comments here on Say Anything we’ve had to modify the comment notification system a bit.

A lot of you, for privacy reasons I’m sure, haven’t been entering valid email addresses when you leave a comment.  So when the system here tries to send you a comment notification it bounces and I get a notification saying that your email address isn’t valid.  In the past I’ve ignored this, but as this blog has grown and as more comments have gotten posted (putting more bad email addresses in the database) those bounces have begun to swamp the email server here.  It has kept my email down for several days, and my have been causing delays in comment notifications for the rest of you.

The solution we’ve implemented requires you to validate your email before you will receive notifications.  Unless you’ve registered here on Say Anything and are logged in when you post your comment.  Then you don’t have to worry about a thing.

For those of you who are regular commenters, your best solution is to probably just register using the link above in the header and log in when you’re posting comments.  If you don’t want to do that, however, you can click this link to confirm your email address right away.  You only have to do this once.  When your email is on our database of confirmed emails you’ll get notifications sent to it regardless of which computer you use.

A link to the confirm page is also included at the bottom of the comments form.

If you have any problems with this, drop me an email and let me know.

Does this tick you off? Click here to email your elected representatives right here on Say Anything, or comment below.
