A Question of Intelligence

AP has a story, quoted by The Smoking Gun, that a Federal Judge has denied a request by Joe and Valerie Plame/Wilson that their home address be kept secret during the prceedings involving their lawsuit against VP Dick Cheney and other officials of the Administration.

AUGUST 25--A federal judge yesterday turned down a request from former CIA agent Valerie Plame and her husband that the couple's address be kept secret in court filings in her lawsuit against Bush administration officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney. In an August 11 motion, Plame and Joseph Wilson argued that their privacy would be jeopardized if their Washington, D.C. residential address was included in court pleadings. But that request was rejected by Judge John Bates, who noted in an order filed yesterday that, "in less than thirty minutes, the Court was able to ascertain plaintiffs's residential address from multiples publicly available sources, including a database of federal government records." Bates added that the couple's lawyer, Christopher Wolf, has been quoted in one newspaper saying that he is Plame and Wilson's next-door neighbor, "and the residential address of that attorney is readily ascertainable."

Two years ago, I looked up the Wilson’s home address in the District of Columbia property tax records (4612 Charleston Trace, NW) and questioned how it was that a retired Department of State employee and his CIA analyst wife could manage to buy a home for $1.2 million with no mortgage.

It’s still a perfectly valid question. But this attempt by Wilson and his wife to "safeguard their privacy" raises another, more pertinent question. Namely, just how really stupid are these people?

Both of these two have acting been like first class media whores for several years now. Wilson is a proven liar of epic, self-serving proportion. Valerie may have had some modest intelligence skills years ago, but over the past 5 years has shown herself to be about as capable as Inspector Clouseau. Their infamous lawsuit was filed, with great fanfare, earlier this summer, and these two are only now figuring out that they might be better off if everyone and his grandmother couldn’t look them up at the click of a mouse?

If Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame are in any way representative of the intellectual capability of this country’s previous diplomatic and intelligence efforts, the question isn’t how did 9-11 happen five years ago. The question is how the hell did it not happen sooner.

They could have used the advances on his B.S. Book “The Politics of Truth” and her upcoming book.

That and giving speechs to Moonbats (ex. Yearly KOS) at $30,000 a pop.

In my opinion they are trying to keep themselves in the public eye by projecting an aura of grandeur.
Like you said Bat1, he is a proven liar of epic proprtions while she warmed a seat at the CIA as a glorified analyst for the last few years.
They are pretending they feel threatened and she is is a secret agent man holding the world’s destiny in the knowledge she maintains under that peroxided head. Never know when Rove will launch that jihad against them if he only knew where they live.
While they are heros to the political left, everyone else believes them to be the political hacks they are.

Whistler,

Yeah, 2 years ago.  I was curious.  Especially after I’d actually read the Intelligence Identities Protection Act and the SSCI report and realized that the whole Valerie Plame thing was pure crap.

Damn, Bravo1, you must have been reading those at the same time I was! The year before we were in DC for thanksgiving and just for shits&giggles I looked up Mr Wilson in the then current Whos Who for DC and Norhtern Virginia. And SHAZZAM!! there they were. Him. Her. And their respective employers. Imagine that. My brotherinlaw gets the current listings through his business, though he never attends any high society type functions.

2Hotel9,

I’ve always had an interest/curiosity with “the secret world.” John Le Carre’s The Spy Who Came In From the Cold, and the three Karla chronicles are the very best ever written.  I could probably tell you more about Philby than you’d ever want to know.  Besides, I used to have a minor working relationship with one such agency years ago.

To me, Wilson’s been a phoney from the very beginning.  And I’m still wondering why no one asked about the missing yellowcake mentioned in the SSCI report, and what was really in that warehouse in Cotonou, Benin that was never investigated, and whether it all made it to Libya.

My favorite le Carre’ is Call For The Dead. And now I really must go to bed, early day tomorrow. Later.
