Keep it up guys, you are doing great.

I wonder how long it will take WOOF and Don to post some sort of lame excuse for for this?

And while we’re on the subject of leftwing intolerance, leftwing ugliness, and leftwing hate and bile, when was the last time a bunch of conservatives physically attacked a liberal speaker, as has happened to Malkin, Coulter, Wolfowitz, Horowitz and Buchanan?

Rob wrote about it right here. In response to it, commenters on this blog wrote:

* "I never said I was against pie throwing. I think we should start doing that to liberals."

* "You reap what you sow! This guy should’ve had the courage of his convictions and stood there instead of running away. He might’ve got another loogie shot in. Count that as a missed opportunity! Although the wench is’nt worth the spit he spat! "

* "I have a hard time condemning this man for doing it."

Did the Hippies beat up the soldiers. I didn’t read that. Did they force the recruiters to leave.? No.

Peaceful protest. An American right.

Little LuLu did post the names and home phone numbers of the protesters.

Thei got dreath threats .

So Lu Lu got some nasty Emails. Poor unethical, not yet a  journalist  Lu Lu.

WOOF on April 17, 2006 at 08:06 pm

Dave said, Rob wrote about it right here.

Rob didn’t write that. We don’t know who wrote that because all of the authors other than Rob were lost in the switchover from WordPress to MovableType. Kind of ticks me off. I am willing to go back and manually put in all of the authors if it needs to be done that way. The problem is that we can’t switch authorship. There is a button there that should allow it, but it won’t go through.

WOOF said, Peaceful protest. An American right.

I didn’t know that shouting down opponents and blocking people from going where they want to fell under "peaceful".

Little LuLu...

"Little LuLu"? Very mature WOOF.

So Lu Lu got some nasty Emails. Poor unethical, not yet a journalist Lu Lu.

Says the unethical child.

likwidshoe on April 17, 2006 at 08:10 pm

Excuse me, but why is it "unethical" to post names and addresses that are published on their own literature?

Never one to rise above the nadir of other’s expectations, WOOF arrives right on cue.

Free,

Pay attention to WOOF’s mindless comment above.  There is a difference between "snide" and "sarcastic."  In excusing the abominable behavior of his fellow hate-spewing progressives, all as predicted, WOOF is being snide.  He does so because he simply doesn’t have the mental acuity to make a reasoned argument in their defense, nor the courage to decry their behavior.  So instead, he attacks the person, in this case Michelle Malkin as a means of defending the indefensible.  His comment is devoid of any sort of intellectual musculature.  There is no substantive structure or reason to what he says, merely a vain attempt at spiteful humor.

It is what one would expect from an intellectual capon.  Thus the term snide, rather than the more intellectually substantive "sarcastic."

Bet that one sent WOOF looking for his dictionary.

She was dead wrong to post personal phone numbers.

Wait to you hear her squeal when hers are posted.

"Fox posted (Tucker) Carlson’s unlisted home number on its Web site. After his wife was inundated with obscene calls, Carlson went to the Fox News bureau to complain. He was told the number would be taken off the Web site if he apologized on the air. He did,"

Ah, thanks, I didn’t even catch that. I should be more careful next time. Though, I should point out, I’m almost certain that was Rob’s post...I seem to remember it from back then.

Dave on April 17, 2006 at 08:43 pm

She was dead wrong to post personal phone numbers.

How? The protestors posted their phone numbers in their press release. At that point, they’re no longer "personal"; they’re in the public domain.

Malkin was, however, while not "dead wrong," very silly for, immediately after accusing the protestors of "sedition" and posting their phone numbers, writing:

If you are contacting them, I do not condone death threats or foul language.

Yeah....like she was just hoping her readers would engage in civil conversation. smile

Dave on April 17, 2006 at 08:50 pm

Uh, maybe she actually DOES hope they contact them without death threats or vulgarities.

Ken McCracken on April 17, 2006 at 08:54 pm

WOOF said, She was dead wrong to post personal phone numbers.

You mean the phone numbers posted here and listed as the "ad-hoc press team"?

What’s wrong about posting the "press team’s" phone numbers?

Wait to you hear her squeal when hers are posted.

Her personal phone number isn’t a "press team" phone number. Did your immaturity blind you to that fact?

Sam Aranke - 714-458-2471 -

No. It wasn’t. It was either from Robert from Lime Shurbet, Raina, Preston from Six Meat Buffet, or Aaron. It wasn’t from Rob. I was editting and fixing code.

Code Of Ethics for the Society of Professional Journalists

Ethical journalists treat sources, subjects and colleagues as human beings deserving of respect.

Journalists should:

  • Show compassion for those who may be affected adversely by news coverage. Use special sensitivity when dealing with children and inexperienced sources or subjects. [...]
  • Recognize that gathering and reporting information may cause harm or discomfort. Pursuit of the news is not a license for arrogance.
  • Recognize that private people have a greater right to control information about themselves than do public officials and others who seek power, influence or attention. Only an overriding public need can justify intrusion into anyone’s privacy.

Tolerance of what---stupidity? racism? jingoism?

No, we do NOT tolerate these things---we repudiate them, and are damn proud of it.

The modern conservatives choose to wallow in them instead. We recognize their right to do so, of course. We just think it’s stupid.

Don Myers on April 18, 2006 at 09:00 am

Tolerance of what---stupidity? racism? jingoism?

No. The left is certainly tolerant of stupidity as one look at their party will show. They are also tolerant of racism as their whole-hearted endorsement of "affirmative action" shows. They are also tolerant of jingoism as long as the country in question is not America.

What the left isn’t tolerant about is diversity of opinion.

No, we do NOT tolerate these things---we repudiate them, and are damn proud of it.

Uh huh.

The modern conservatives choose to wallow in them instead. We recognize their right to do so, of course. We just think it’s stupid.

My goodness Don. Modern liberalism is the art of standing on one’s head and then telling the rest of the world that it is upside down. You display it in spades.

"This hate was directed toward the very students Michelle Malkin criticized."

Obviously the way to deal with those "students" isn’t to criticize them publicly, but to take away their student loans instead.  If the Solomon Amendment is constitutional as it is applied to institutions of "higher learning" perhaps its ought to be applied to the individual students as well.  That "free speech" "chilling effect" argument didn’t work all that well in F.A.I.R v. Rumsfeld.  I can’t see that it should be any different here.

Actually, this incident proves that liberal moonbats are learning.  One time before, a detractor of Mrs. Malkin wrote from his work address and found out the hard way that employers don’t like to have the company name associated with vulgar terms for female genitalia.

My husband said those are badges of honor! He told me the other night when Michael the Britt refered to me as an "illiterate prostitute"… Even still, the kind of descriptions Michell was refered to is more racist and degrading than me being refered to as an illiterate prostitute. Michell is awesome and her intelligence is probably so excruciating to that type of individual that personal insults are all the ammo they have to give. Much of the left’s hatred towards conservatives is usually because their argument lacks and is insufficient. The capacity for a civil debate is unequal when the leftist put what they call values out there. I certainly wouldn’t want to go up against Michell Malkin! Not all Lefties are insulting and rude, BUT, sometimes we all need to stop and think about who and what we are representing.

Payback’s a Bitch.

And you lose.

Malkin forced to move after personal details published

After nationally syndicated columnist and blogger Michelle Malkin posted the e-mail addresses and phone numbers of three members of Students Against War, they received a flood of obscene and harassing messages from around the country, including death threats. When a liberal Web site, in retaliation, published Malkin’s cell phone number and home address, a full-blown blog war ensued.

"I am now forced to remove one of my children from school and move my family," Malkin wrote Thursday in an e-mail to the Sentinel.

Those who support the publishing of Malkin’s home contacts would do well to remember that it was not home addresses, but business contacts that were published on Malkin’s weblog.  Sorry, "Mole" and "Modern," but this is a basic difference between contacting someone at work (with no mail address) and allowing idiots to abuse one’s family at home.

If you can’t see this as a critical difference, then I’d suggest that you go home and stay there until you figure it out.  There are basic bounds of decency and propriety, and the leftists have clearly crossed the line here, not Malkin.

Dear Friends:

I came to this blog as a friend of one of the young students in question to try to understand what is going on and why my friend who is trying to be a responsible and passionate participant in the national debate is suffering personal attack and violent threats for her beliefs.

I am sorry not to see stronger statements from conservatives  denouncing the angry, violent, and ignorant language of other conservatives.

I am saddened not to see stronger statements from liberals denouncing angry, violent and ignorant language from other liberals.

I am saddened to read a string of name-calling posts with virtually no intellectual content, no evidence of listening, all trying to acheive a single goal to convince others that one side is right and moral and the other side is some kind of moral pervert lacking human intelligence.

The agruments are not convincing in either case.

Friends, if we want to be a beacon for peace, for justice, for democracy or any other value that we cherish, we must have both our actions and our speach in the world reflect our deepest beliefs.

My deepest wish is that the name calling would stop.  These are important issues.  People are killing others and being killed.  The lives of the Iraqui people, the lives of many average Americans, our ability to live together with each other is at stake.

The nasty language on this thread and all accross the webworld poisons our ability to know truth, to love justice, and to walk humbly.  The values that you profess are being trampelled—not by your adversary on this list, but by yourself.

My friend is ok.  I trust that the students at UCSC will be safe.  I trust that the effort to bring America back to its true values will go on and that those who want to live in peace with their enemies will find ways to do that.

My current sense is that the best way to do that is to sign off of the weblogs, invite someone you don’t agree with to go out for pizza and bowling, seek to be just in your daily actions, and care for those who are affected by your words.

Just a thought.  With well wishes.

Dear Walter, When I personally see my country and our troops being attacked by anti war and anti Busher’s it makes me ill. I am a conservative. In the blogsphere snarky comments are just one of the casualties of blogging. I would suggest if you or your student can’t handle it you may want to go to another site. OR, provide your students with another forum...God Bless America!

Walter, unfortunately it was the students named in the press release, which Malkin merely copied, who started the problem by running military recruiters off their campus via intimidation.  It’s somewhat disingenuous to claim now that all they want is peace, don’t you think?

Put differently, if you start a fight, don’t get surprised when you get a bloody nose.
