Pace: Murtha Hurting Troop Morale

WASHINGTON — A Democratic congressman's remarks about the military are damaging to troop morale and the Army's efforts to rebound from a recruiting slump, the nation's top general said Thursday.

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, was asked at a Pentagon news conference to comment on remarks by Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., a Marine Corps veteran who has become a leading voice in Congress advocating an early withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq. Murtha told ABC News this week that if he were eligible to join the military he would not, nor would he expect others to join.

"That's damaging to recruiting," Pace said. "It's damaging to morale of the troops who are deployed and it's damaging to the morale of their families who believe in what they are doing to serve this country."

Exactly what I was getting at earlier.

Of course, Democrats in general - with their consistently defeatist rhetoric on all things national defense/war on terror/military related - have done far more damage to troop morale and recruiting efforts than Murtha's comments have.

Of course! Any sign of dimished morale among our troops must solely be the fault of the “defeatist democrats”.

Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, the f---ing criminally incompetent civilians in the administration - those that ordered the invasion with no planning for the aftermath while sweet-talking the country with BS ("we will be greeted as liberators”, “withdrawal within a year”, “paid for with oil revenues” etc.etc.) have something to do with a reduction in morale?

I suppose our troops are just peachy with the notion that 30 months into this debacle, there is still insufficient armor for ground equipment, stop-loss orders are in effect, the National Guard has been deployed in unprecedented numbers - all this and no end in sight.

You think none of that matters, eh Rob? On your planet, it’s Democrats critcising Bush’s failed policy that’s the problem.

Unbelievable.

Yeah mcair, lets not listen to what is pissing off the troops. What the hell do they know? You need a new talking points sheet, the one you keep using here is 2 years out of date.
