Pomeroy Telling Dean To Shut Up

I posted about my Representative, Earl Pomeroy, telling Howard Dean to "shut up" two days ago.

The audio of those remarks have become available on the internet. You can listen here. This shift to the far left by national Democrats is going to hurt the members of that party who have to answer to red state constituencys. People like Earl Pomeroy, who represent states that went to Bush in 2004, can't afford to stand by while Howard Dean pushes the agenda of Code Pink and MoveOn.org.

This move to the extreme left is going to fracture the Democrat party.

[...] Really, though, shame on them for pushing this falsehood. And shame on the North Dakota Democrats for pushing it as well, especially after one of their own recently came out and blasted Howard Dean for his defeatist rhetoric. [...]

[...] Hell, the fact that a national Democrat politician told Dean to “shut up” after making these comments went largely uncovered. You can’t tell me that isn’t news worth covering. [...]

[...] In response to Howard Dean’s claim that we cannot win in Iraq, which prompted a ND Rep. Earl Pomeroy to tell Dean to “shut up,” ND Senator Kent Conrad offered this lame defense: Well my understanding is that he said that in the context of we don’t change course and we don’t change direction. This is not so certain as some as thought because this has been the statement of many including prominent Republicans over the last three months that we’ve got to change course. [...]

[...] Of course, we may still see a Cramer campaign this year.  Rep. Earl Pomeroy is up for re-election as well, and that would be a match-up more to Cramer’s favor.  Still, if Cramer wants to win he needs to show more confidence.  And Pomeroy has been doing a fairly good job looking good for his red-state voters.  He told party Chairman Howard Dean to shut up, and that rejection of national Democrat liberalism will go a long way with a lot of ND voters.  Of course, Pomeroy later backed away from the comment, but either way Pomeroy won’t be an easy nut to crack. So who will run against Conrad? Who knows. As Taking Back ND notes, state Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem is polling well. He’d be an obvious choice, if he’s interested in doing it. Regardless, whoever does run needs to come out of the chute at a dead sprint with a lot of energy. Conrad has been in the Senate for over two decades. At this point name recognition alone could carry an election for him in a state as politically apathetic as ND is. [...]
