Kerry: American Troops Terrorize Iraqi Kids

Hmm...

Sen. KERRY: Let me–I–first of all, there is so much more that unites Democrats than divides us. And Democrats have much more in common with each other than they do with George Bush’s http://thepoliticalteen.net/wp-admin/post.phppolicy right now. Now Joe Lieberman, I believe, also voted for the resolution which said the president needs to make more clear what he’s doing and set out benchmarks, and that the policy hasn’t been working. We all believe him when you say, `Stay the course.’ That’s the president’s policy, which hasn’t been changing, which is a policy of failure. I don’t agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is you’ve got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment. You’ve got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis. And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the–of–the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not…

Talk about a bad choice of words.

[...] If you want to protest the war....knock yourself out. If you want to march till the cows come home....by all means, have at it. But don’t spew your hatred directly at the soldiers who are injured and sacrificed so that you have the liberty and freedom to protest. Stop using children to promote your agenda. Its shameful and disgusting and the rest of America won’t stand for it.What was so thoroughly repugnant? This:Dear Soldier,Have a great time in the war. And have a great time dieing in the war. From,Miguel GallierP.S. DieThese are the folks that are so supportive of the troops after all. We wouldn’t want to question their patriotism, their support for the troops, or their intellectual honesty. And this comes on the heels of Sen. Kerry calling the troops terrorists again on this past Sunday’s Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer. The key graf: Let me--I--first of all, there is so much more that unites Democrats than divides us. Whether you like it or not...This isn’t just a slip of the tongue, but part of a pattern of behavior on Kerry’s part for the past 30 years. It started as soon as he got back from his tour of duty in Vietnam and hasn’t stopped since. Perpetuating myths and lies, which get repeated as fact and never questioned by those who should know better.UPDATE:Michelle Malkin has more, including the address of the soldier who received this letter:Joshua Sparlingc/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center6900 Georgia Avenue N.W.Washington, D.C. 20307-5001UPDATE:Others who actually support the troop by slamming those who make baseless accusations (Kerry) or inflict emotional distress on those recovering from their injuries sustained in combat (Miguel Gallier) (and updated as needed): T. It seems the more Kerry talks, the more likely the real truth will slip out.  His constant efforts for “nuance” reveal his true lack of depth.  After all, he did lie about our troops in Vietnam.

Actually, I think Kerry makes a great point.  By gad, if anyone is going into Iraqi homes (in the dead of night) to terrorize kids and children and women it ought to be other Iraqis.  After all, would you rather be terrorized by one of your own?

God bless, Kerry.  Now I remember why I voted for him. /sarcasm

Actually, I’d rather see the Iraqis themselves executing these operations and see our troops at home.  But the reality of the situation is that the Iraqi forces aren’t quite ready.  They will be, but until then American troops need to keep doing it.

Its just a bad choice of words for the Senator.  Along with his already fundamental misunderstanding of what we’re doing in Iraq.

Rob,

You honestly believe it was just a poor choice of words?

Woof: When are you going to stop beating your wife?  Have you ever stolen anything in your life?  Is it then OK to characterize you as a thief and a wife-beater?  Get real.  Kerry is pulling the same crap he did after Vietnam; slandering our troops.

Is their some doubt American troops are breaking down doors in the middle of the night ?

I must point out that no one seems to be debating the initial contention that regular Iraqis are being terrorized by anyone other than the real terrorists.  The question seems to have morphed into who should be terrorizing them, us or the legitimate Iraqi military or police.  Nice spin there, Kerry.  Worthy of Clinton.

His constant efforts for “nuance” reveal his true lack of depth.

In order to be truly “deep” one must recognize that all problems are broken down into simple black & white judgments that can be summed up in five words or less ("You’re either with us or you’re against us!")

Depends on what you mean, I guess.  Does Kerry believe that our troops are terrorists?  I don’t think so.  Did he carefully choose that word in order to sensationalize some scuttlebut he was using to undermine the war?  Probably.

That’s eight words, Dave.  Guess you’re nuanced.  Good going.

[...] Just in the last couple of weeks we’ve had John Kerry accusing our troops of terrorizing Iraqis, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi calling for immediate withdrawal (right after she voted against it) and backing the defeatist rantings of another Democrat who would have us believe that our troops are tired, wore out and cannot possibly win. [...]

[...] Here’s John Kerry’s spokesman, David Wade, responding to criticism of Kerry from RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman and Rush Limbaugh over remarks he made on Meet The Press: Ken Mehlman’s filthy and shameful lie about a decorated combat veteran is disgraceful. Political hack Ken Mehlman and draft dodging, donut eating Rush Limbaugh have something in common. Neither of them know anything about how to make American troops safe. John Kerry will continue to speak out about how to succeed in Iraq and protect brave American troops. [...]

[...] Yet it is the Republicans, not the Democrats, who Inouye says is doing a disservice to our troops. Well I think that’s a bunch of partisan nonsense. The Republicans are behind our troops and their mission in Iraq. The Democrats are bellyaching about how our troops are “terrorizing” the Iraqis. While the troops fight and die for the cause of a free Iraq and a stable middle east the leader of the Democrat party here at home is telling the world that we cannot win. [...]
