North Dakota 11th Best Place To Work In U.S.

Cool...

What are the factors that make for a decent work environment and how do the conditions of work vary in different parts of the United States? To address these and similarly important questions in a clear and accessible way, we have developed a new approach for measuring the work environment on a state-by state basis throughout the United States (including the District of Columbia) – the Work Environment Index (WEI). This is the first installment of the WEI, and we intend to update it every year.

The WEI is a unique social indicator that brings together in one measure a range of factors that, in combination, define the quality of our working lives in the U.S. today.
The WEI examines three basic dimensions of the U.S. work environment: job opportunities, job quality and workplace fairness. We rank the 50 states and the District of Columbia according to these three categories.

Here are the state-by-state rankings. Note that North Dakota ranked #1 in job opportunities. This meshes with the super-low unemployment rates I highlighted last week.

North Dakota's economy is booming right now (though state Democrats don't want you to know that), we just need some people to come here and work.

Crap… we’re only 33… That’s on the lower half of the spectrum, and using the factors they used I’m surprised.  Now if you talked about best places to run a business, I’d expect CA to be somewhere near 50…

See my earlier post on this “study” HERE.

Using my method of eliminating the “Marxist Mark-up”, North Dakota’s score (surprise, surprise) goes up 13 points.

Your weather is a tad bit too cold and your politics are a bit too liberal for me so I think I’ll stay here in Texas.  Make sure that you only invite conservatives to move to your state.  As an aside, I think North Dakota was one of the finalists in the Free State movement who eventually selected New Hampshire as the place to migrate.

[...] North Dakota, the 11th best place to work in the nation (and #1 in job opportunities).  It’s obvious. We rock. So Happy 116th Birthday to North Dakota, and what a good one it is. posted by Julie on 7:43 PM | link | (0) comments | Links to this post    [...]
