Media Buries Iran’s Call For Israel’s Destruction

This is scary.

(AP) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Wednesday that Israel is a "disgraceful blot" that should be "wiped off the map" _ fiery words that Washington said underscores its concern over Iran's nuclear program.

Ahmadinejad's speech to thousands of students at a "World without Zionism" conference set a hard-line foreign policy course sharply at odds with that of his moderate predecessor, echoing the sentiments of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of Iran's Islamic revolution.

The United States said Ahmadinejad's remarks show that Washington's fears about Iran's nuclear program are accurate.

The media's reaction? As of the time of this posting:

Fox News has a small headline on the front page.

As does MSNBC.

It isn't even on CNN's front page (you have to search to find it).

It isn't on the front page of ABC News either.

Nor is it on the front page of CBS News.

The New York Times isn't running it. Neither is the L.A. Times or the Washington Post.

What gives? We've got a rogue, terror-sponsoring country that has been actively seeking to develop nuclear weapons talking about wiping out another country and exterminating an entire race and it doesn't even warrant some headlines?

A washed-up female basketball player declaring that she's a lesbian is getting more attention than this.

That's pathetic. Why is the media smothering this story?

Update:

Powerline has more.

My question is, why did she have to pull a press conference to tell the world she was gay. First time I saw her interveiwed after a game I knew. As for Iran declaring the destruction of Israel, they do that once a month. During Ramadan they do it once a week. Hell, their rep to the UN has stood at the big podium in the General Assembly and said this. More same old same.

That’s pathetic. Why is the media smothering this story?

Because Israel is a free country.

Because Israel is building a security barrier.

Because Israel does more for Palestinian Arabs than the PA does.

Because the little sliver of land called Israel is the problem to peace in the Middle East.

[...] If sensationalism sells, why isn't our media all over this one? You'd think a country working on nuclear weapons calling for a nearby country to be wiped off the map would be a pretty sensational story right?QUOTEThe media’s reaction? I mean, I found this story on CNN:

Jury finds Port Authority negligent in 1993 WTC bombing

But I don’t see anything about where the president of Iran said that Israel should be wiped from the planet.

Yeah, the Port Authority is wo we should blame for the first attack on the WTC.

I feel like I’m gonna wake up and see Auntie Em standing by my bedside.  We aren’t in Kansas anymore, Toto.

srael is merely the first country on Iran’s list. Iranian officials have stated publicly that they have identified 29 sites that would be attacked as part of a plan for “the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization.” You can read about it here.

The clock is ticking ...

From last Friday’s “Real Time with Bill Maher”:

Did you hear this? 3-time WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoopes revealed that she is a lesbian. This came out in an interview in the new issue of “No Shit Magazine”; where it was also reported that Yao Ming is Chinese.

Thought you might get a kick out of that. smile
