Media Buries Iran’s Call For Israel’s Destruction
(AP) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad declared Wednesday that Israel is a "disgraceful blot" that should be "wiped off the map" _ fiery words that Washington said underscores its concern over Iran's nuclear program.
Ahmadinejad's speech to thousands of students at a "World without Zionism" conference set a hard-line foreign policy course sharply at odds with that of his moderate predecessor, echoing the sentiments of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of Iran's Islamic revolution.
The United States said Ahmadinejad's remarks show that Washington's fears about Iran's nuclear program are accurate.
The media's reaction? As of the time of this posting:
Fox News has a small headline on the front page.
As does MSNBC.
It isn't even on CNN's front page (you have to search to find it).
It isn't on the front page of ABC News either.
Nor is it on the front page of CBS News.
The New York Times isn't running it. Neither is the L.A. Times or the Washington Post.
What gives? We've got a rogue, terror-sponsoring country that has been actively seeking to develop nuclear weapons talking about wiping out another country and exterminating an entire race and it doesn't even warrant some headlines?
A washed-up female basketball player declaring that she's a lesbian is getting more attention than this.
That's pathetic. Why is the media smothering this story?
Update:
Powerline has more.
