This bus was saved.

Yeah, I had seen that WOOF. That guy deserves a parade.

This report said that he was only 18 years old as opposed to the 20 in the above story and that he might actually get into trouble.

I liked this quote from him, “I dont care if I get blamed for it ,” Gibson said, “as long as I saved my people.”

God bless him.

I also think a lot of the answer lies with Mayer Nagin.  Of course I really blame Colin Powell. wink Anyway, here’s a bit more detail. “Money” quote:

I guess the hundreds of buses Mayor Nagin didn’t use to take the poor out of the city would be a lot more upsetting if there’d been time to organize them. On the other hand, that wouldn’t have been a problem if they’d ordered it 72 hours beforehand, like their evacuation plan appears to have told them to.

This quoted material also made me do a double take:

Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.

And why were all these now useless buses not used the evacuate the poor and disadvantaged citizens of the city? Perhaps Mayor"I never met corruption I did not profit from” Nagin would dain to answer so simple a question.

The pic of the large group of buses was in a part of the city that was under 12 feet of water on Thursday. The ones near the Superdome were under3-5 feet of water. Still enough to get into the air filters. Niether of those areas were flooded until late on Tuesday. Plenty of time to have utilized those assets for evacuation.

The buses do not appear to be in too deep of water.  If any of those are diesel, it would be possible to drive them, depending upon the terrain.

Wifey,

You’re not possibly suggesting that the local officials in New Orleans, as opposed to the convienent President Bush, ought to get some blame for New Orleans falling into such disarray, are you?

Bestill my beating heart. Or at least Filet-o-Fish’s.

Can one of you please tell me WHEN Bush has ever admitted a mistake?  Just one.  If he had ever admitted to making a mistake, perhaps we could give him the benefit of the doubt. But since Bush has NEVER been held accountable for anything, and has NEVER admitted to making a mistake, conservatives can be relied upon to once again carry water for the clearly incompetent Bush. But then again, cronyism and conservatism go hand in hand, do they not?

Pass the buck Dano347. Whatever you do, don’t respond to the topic at hand though, just make some accusations and then ramble off topic. Finish it off with an insult. Bravo!

[...] After hurricane Katrina there was a lot of talk about buses in New Orleans. Pictures of buses drowned in water made the rounds as people asked questions about why they weren’t used to evacuate the citizens. [...]
