Some Secret

Kevin Aylward:

So, via Who's Who, the name "Valerie Plame" has been associated publicly with Joe Wilson since the Clinton era

He's got the proof to back it up.

Some secret indeed.

And, if memory serves me correctly, the information in the Who's Who listings are provided (or at the very least approved) by those listed in the directory themselves. Meaning that Wilson likely "outed" his own wife at least a year before President Bush was even in office.

Hey, how did Wilson “out” his wife by saying her name?  He did not say SHE WAS IN THE CIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Anyone who knew Joe Wilson (i.e. his neighbors, friends, etc.) knew his wife’s name for christ’s sake.  WHat they didn’t know was that she was a CIA agent.  So the “Who’s Who” proves absolutely nothign.  But you right wing hacks will say anything, anything at all, if it will help your leader, even if it makes you look like a complete idiot.

I thought “Valerie Plame” was her “Top Secret” name… not her real name.

It’s just not a good one.

“Plame” is her maiden name.

You’re right: Wilson “outed” the fact that he had a wife.

What this has to do with her work as a covert agent is beyond me..... Care to explain?

He also listed her employer. They are also listed in a social registery of Northern VA-DC, that from the Washington Post and Baltimore Sun. Might as well strip the saddle and bridel off that horse. It is long dead. You should really concentrate on the prior bussiness dealings of Karl"EvilMastermind"Rove, and let this carcass lie.

It answer the question circulating on liberal blogs on “why was the name Valerie Plame was published instead of Valerie Wilson”.  That’s a question that has been puzzling me for a while as well.  The right answer is “Joseph Wilson really is a walking twit and Google existed before July 6, 2003”.

[...] For example, one dodo who’s Blog is accurately named Dadahead said: Beside the point Conservative bloggers are crowing over the news that Valerie Plame has been listed as Joseph Wilson’s husband in “Who’s Who in America” for a couple of years now. E.g.: here, here, and here. [...]

Plame’s super-secret CIA cover name was...Valerie Plame.  A name published by her husband in Who’s Who.

What kind of a secret CIA agent uses her own name as cover and then allows her husband to publish that super-secret cover in a directory like Who’s Who?

The fact that Wilson and Plame were married was a matter of public record, not a secret.  The Who’s Who entry gave her maiden name, as it generally does.  It was not a secret name.  Despite hounding of her neighbors by Fox reporters, not one person has ever been found that knew she was a CIA agent prior to Novak’s column; as required by law her actual job had been concealed from all her friends and relatives for her entire professional life.  Novak at first claimed he hadn’t revealed her identity because his column stated that Wilson’s wife was a CIA agent but didn’t actually give her name.  The reason for the copy of Who’s Who on the table at the CNN show where he famously walked off the set was to show that the name of Wilson’s wife was not a secret, and that by revealing she was a CIA agent Novak had indeed revealed the identity of a CIA agent and endangered the lives of covert contacts she had worked with.

Astonishingly Rightwing commentators on Fox and Orlando’s Lou Fry don’t bother to check their facts.  But hey, who needs facts?

Hey, Dan, CBS and ABC news both ran footage of Plame/Wilson’s neighbors. Everyone of them said they knew she worked for CIA. Checking facts! It is not just for Foxnews.

Hi, 2Hotel9. Do you happen to have a link to any clip or transcript of news footage showing that Plame’s neighbors did, in fact, know she was CIA? EVERYONE is now saying none did but, like you, I remember seeing something somewhere identifying some neighbors who were aware who her employer was.

I would love to be able to prove that is the case, but have not been able to find the source for it.

CBS news archives. ABC news archives. AFP’s archives. Rueters archives. Do I have to swab your throat out so you won’t drown on your own spit?

2Hotel9, You can’t find one can you?  Really this whole Who’s Who bit is yet another attempt to deflect critics away from the Whitehouse.

Remember the same rightwing idealogs also fervently claimed Plame was not a covert agent, then Fritz stated publicly that she matched all three criteria to be considered under the law a covert agent.

After that they pointed out that Rove has not be indicted for perjury as a sign of innocence, forgetting that this is only round one of what will be a long investigation.  Fritz has never stated that Carl Rove was innocent of revealing the identity of a covert agent or of giving classified information to a person without clearance.  No he said that Rove was perfectly honest about his actions and that he did in fact do the former and the later.  This does not make him a saint.

What does this have to do with the fact that major powers within the Whitehouse leaked classified information for a purely political agenda of silencing a critic and any future critics?
Nothing.
