Charles Rangel Compares Iraq War To The Holocaust

Newsmax - Top House Democrat Charles Rangel complained on Monday that the Bush administration's decision to concoct a "fraudulent" war in Iraq was as bad as "the Holocaust."

"It's the biggest fraud ever committed on the people of this country," Rangel told WWRL Radio's Steve Malzberg and Karen Hunter. "This is just as bad as six million Jews being killed. The whole world knew it and they were quiet about it, because it wasn't their ox that was being gored."

The Harlem Democrat charged that top Bush officials "made up [their] mind to go into Iraq long before 9/11. And every one of the players who made this decision - they were part of this plan to do it. From Rumsfeld to Cheney, Wolfowitz, Bolton, every one of them - Perle - [they were part of the] plan to put our kids in harm's way long before 9/11."

Rangel insisted that American blacks and poor whites are dying in Iraq, while those who supported the war aren't paying any price.

Saddam Hussein tortured and murdered political dissenters, sometimes by throwing them in industrial plastic shredders. He held sham elections where he got 99% of the vote. He massacred hundreds of thousands of his countrymen and buried them in shallow mass graves. Yet, for some reason, our brave soldiers who rescued the Iraqis from that terrible regime are guilty of the holocaust.

What a awful, shameful thing for Rangel to say

To be fair, I think Rangel was trying to compare the "world's silence" about what he is undoubtedly perceiving as atrocities in Iraq to the world's silence about the holocaust in Nazi Germany during the first part of WWII. But still, he's drawing a comparison between the Nazi's occupation of parts of Europe and America's occupation of Iraq, which is, to any sensible person, beyond the pale. The fact that Rangel is an elected representative of the American people makes it even worse.

Anyway, I'd like to ask one question: Where's the media coverage? If an unsubstantiated rumor of Koran abuse is enough for Newsweek to run a story where's the coverage for this?

You expect too much of Rangel. He’s not qualified to represent dog crap.

Oh yeah, it’s perfectly fine for Democrats to make unsubstantiated claims.  A few years ago, Rep. Major Owens (Duh NY) made an outrageous claim about the number of blacks that were thrown off slave ships. He claimed that sharks still swam the paths of the ships. I remember that Rush ran the numbers and it would have required an enormous number of ships to do what Owens claimed.

Remember Santorum’s comments regarding the SCOTUS Lawrence decision? He didn’t say anything wrong, but he was quoted out of context and incompletely and the Left went wild. Dan Savage, who writes the repulsive Savage Love column, petitioned his readers to come up with a sexual meaning for the word “santorum”. I’ll leave it to you to find out what he picked.

And people still claim there’s no left-leaning bias in the MSM, or in some cases that it leans right. My arse.

Wrangle is a nut.  He only represents nuts… He’s good for a laugh, but that’s about it. It sad that the people of his district actually VOTE for the guy…

For those on the left it is considered acceptable to lie, if it will further the cause.  They do not share the same values that the rest of us do, they believe the ends justify the means.

Slug, it ain’t just the left. Lie,Cheat,Steal,Kill. This is an axiom that is taught in the military. Mission above all else. Both sides of the political aisle are guilty of this. When I did my time in the fire I adhered to this axiom without guilt or remorse. In civilian society this is not acceptable. But when one cheats, all must cheat. Or else all will lose.

If you’re going to keep making such desperately, ludicrous accusations Rob, you might wanna omit Conyer’s explanation of his comment. Because, they’re reading more credible as to the how and why we went to war for an increasing number of Americans, in stark contrast to yours!

And, if you’re not aware, Conyer’s has scheduled a hearing on the Downing Street Memo: DSM Accountability Clears Another Hurdle

That damn memo again… another memo that can’t be validated or verified… I reserve my judgement… until there’s some verification…

but, I WANTED SADDAM OUT!!!  so it’s going to be hard for me to get pissed about how the war was sold…

Hotel, not everyone is morally corrupt. There are some people who actually believe in doing the right thing and not lying to further an agenda.  As I said, not everyone shares the same values.  Some people think that because some are corrupt, then everyone must be corrupt.  In other words, they see the world through their own eyes.  With the Democratic party, it is about projecting themselves onto Republicans.  Accuse your opposition of doing what you do, in order to hide what your doing.

Wanted to point out that the USA Today has an article on the Downing Street Memo.  In reading their coverage and watching the TV reports, I would have to say that this was not a good day for the DSM.

You just had two major political figures single out the memo for criticism and rebuttal.  That doesn’t generally lead to an increase in its credibility.

Of course, TCF still thinks that Howard Dean has been great for the DNC, even with his anemic fund raising results and half the Democratic leaders back-pedalling from him as fast as they can.  TCF is wrong on Dean and he’s wrong on this.

Continuing to pretend this memo is a silver bullet that is going to take down or even hurt Bush is simply delusional behavior on the part of the DNC faiithful.  All it will do is further stigmatize the Democratic Party as negative and incapable of constructive behavior.  If TCF and the other arch-liberals really think that this approach is winning them voters, they are in for a hell of a surprise in the 2006 elections.

I think this obstructionism is being viewed very negatively by the public, and I think this is the reason that Robert Byrd is in a bit of a pinch right now.  You aren’t elected to office simply to be the opposition party.  You have to provide leadership and new ideas or you lose credibility with your base.

Right on! Slug, we are on the same sheet of music in this. The problem arises when one side consistently cheats, advances its cause without being called on it, and attacks all others as cheaters. The MSM dives in and points its finger at those who have not cheated and calls them guilty, voters believe what they are told by the omni-directional sludgepump and any defense put forward by the innocent is seen as lies.  You can not stand by, wrapping yourself in the threadbare cloth of honor while all we have is being stolen, defiled, and perverted by our enemies. Enemies who hide within our country, call themselves patriotic Americans while dragging OUR country into their socialist nightmare. Dying with honor is still dead. And your enemy has won.

[...] I firmly believe that the Democrat party has been moving itself to the lunatic fringes of American politics for a while now and they continue to move in that direction every time some hack like Howard Dean opens his maw and spews invective across the political landscape. Or when some malcontent like Rep. Charles Rangel tells us that our troops in Iraq are no better than the Nazis. Or when some hack like Dick Durbin tells us that our troops in Guantanamo Bay are no different than the guards at Pol Pot’s death camps. [...]

Does anybody know what Sen. Conrad thinks about his leadership? Does Sen. Conrad agree that Iraq is like the Holocaust? Hmmmmmm.... something tells me we’ll NEVER find out. If Conrad comes out against these remarks… he won’t get any more money from his left-wing buddies. [...]
