Google Comes Through
As I noted then, the cost for participating in link farming schemes like that is banishment from Google which, for Say Anything, would me a reduction by roughly 1/2 in the amount of traffic sent here.
Now Say Anything has never been about "getting the most traffic," but Google search engine hits are important none the less. Many people, some of whom have been the subjects of posts here, have stumbled in through Google and left their two cents worth of opinions in the comments. I value those visitors. Sure, other search engines bring in visitors like that, but not like Google. Google is responsible for approximately 80% of all my search engine traffic.
So I was made very happy when I noticed that a representative from Google noticed my post about the problem and left a comment assuring me that I would be re-included in their index soon now that I have removed the offending links.
I can't even begin to express how surprised and elated I am to find Google so responsive to this problem. Simply including me in the index once again would have been enough, but sending a representative over to let me know what the problem was and give me some detailed information is over-and-above even the most reasonable of expectations.
They really are a cracker-jack company.
Now if they could just focus the same kind of attention on their work on their Google News product...
